End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) for Veterans

The End of Life Nursing Consortium (ELNEC) for Veterans was developed to meet the unique palliative care needs of Veterans and to guide nurses in orchestrating this care. The expertise gained at this course will not only help to improve the quality of palliative care for veterans, it will also ensure that all nurses attending the course will leave with vital information and skills to improve end of life care for all their patients, both veterans and non-veterans alike, in all health care settings.

With the majority of veterans receiving medical care in non-VA establishments, this course will prepare nurses in every healthcare setting in the areas of communication, pain management, symptom management, loss, grief and bereavement, and final hours while imparting an understanding of the distinct culture of veterans. This two-day conference brings in experts from all different areas of End of Life education to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the topic areas and resources for more information.
