Mathematical Statistics for Nursing
Provides an introduction to the statistical quantitative analysis of problems in the life and health sciences. Basic concepts include exploratory data analysis with graphs to visualize center, variation and distribution; scatter plots and correlation; measuring center and spread; percentiles and detecting outliers; basic probability concepts; normal distribution; sampling designs and designing experiments; Central Limit Theorem; cinfidence intervals; hypothesis testing of a claim about mean or proportion; chi-square test for goodness of fit; linear regression; matched pairs; bootstrap method for small sample estimation of a parameter using the Monte Carlo method for re-sampling.
Enrollment restricted to Pre-Nursing students who have completed the Elementary-Level Mathematics (ELM) requirement.
Note: Matriculated students MUST register using their MyCsusm portal.
Non-matriculated students: This class has 1 or more pre requisites. In order to add this class you will need to bring documentation ( ex: unofficial/official transcript) showing you have completed the course pre-requisites or the equivalent to Extended Learning for review.
