Provides a practical and historical introduction to astronomy. The course includes solar system astronomy, stellar astronomy, galaxies, and cosmology, with an emphasis on comparative planetology and the historical and cultural development of our knowledge of the solar system.

-May not be taken for credit by students who have received credit for PHYS 342.
